Within a warm cocoon in the foothills of the Andes, our journey and transformation takes place…
East meets West as we experience a unique synergy: the shamanic practices of The Americas and the ancient art and science of Yoga.
The intention and focus of this immersion is to deepen our self-awareness via powerful forms of self-inquiry.
We firmly believe that one’s inner development is at least as important as learning new asana techniques and methods of teaching, as these outer tools are most powerful if we have done, and are always attending to, our personal work.
The old adage “‘Know Thyself” is, in our opinion, the necessary foundation required to teach, guide, and mentor others. Thus, this module will be less about “instruction” and more about us providing you with powerful tools, holding space and remaining present as you look within. These “tools” consist of practices that have helped people become truly connected to their hearts, their souls, and their humanity, for thousands of years. We have co-evolved with them.
Both our yogic and nature-based practices are approached in sacred ceremony as offerings, as prayers, to Spirit and to “Pachamama” (Mother Earth). Yogically, we will utilize pranayama, mantra, mudras, asana and contemplation, incorporating both Yoga Nidra (including an experiential journey through all 5 koshas, the “sheaths” or layers of Being) and Yin Yoga as a way to embody and integrate the master plant teachings that come to us from the South American traditions.
The native practice of “Council Circles” will also play a significant role during this 10-day retreat, which will preface and follow all shamanic ceremonies, further assisting us with our blossoming and the integration of our practices.
Open to yogis and non-yogis alike, this immersion counts as a 100-hour module towards a 300-hour yoga teacher training for those moving towards an advanced 500-hour certification.
This module also meets Continuing Education (CE) requirements as required by Yoga Alliance.
